On 18th September, 2017, a Grand ceremony was held at Drepung Gomang Monastery’s Prayer Hall temple where in presence of His Holiness Gaden Tri Rinpoche Kyabje Jetsun Lobsang Tenzin Palsangpo, His Eminence Jangtse Choeje Gosok Rinpoche and His Eminence Sharpa Choeje Lobsang Dorjee Rinpoche, our senior monks were presented with memento by the monastery to express gratitude for the wonderful support, hard work and carrying forward the vision of H.H. the Dalai Lama to the next generation.
The credit for what we see today is all because of great hard done by our senior monks, who worked hard to re-establish this monastic community in present location. When the monastery was re-located here in 1972 to the present location, only 60 monks were there. They worked hard to clear the forest to create land for house and fields to live on. Working days and nights to uproot the numerous trees to make the area usable for farming and housing, some even had to work in couples to pull the plough in the field when monastery hadn’t had any oxen to do that. Beside all these hard work endured, our senior monks were able to keep up the great work of preserving the religious tradition by teaching the novice monks.
The monastery express its deepest gratitude to all our senior monks, past and present for their pure dedication, determination and devotion to this monastic sangha who will always remember their gratefulness.
